Overview

The Assistant Bookkeeper at In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) is a crucial member of the Finance Team, responsible for supporting daily financial operations with accuracy and careful record-keeping. This role focuses on maintaining IOOV's financial systems while contributing directly to the organization's mission of advancing the health and safety of LGBTQ+ people of color.

Key responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and receivable including invoices and payments
  • Maintain vendor records and support payment tracking
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts and financial records
  • Assist with payroll processing and documentation
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Communicate with vendors and staff regarding financial matters
  • Support audits, compliance, and administrative tasks

Required skills

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 1-2 years of bookkeeping or financial administrative experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
