Overview

The Asset Protection Specialist at The Home Depot Canada is responsible for preventing financial loss due to theft and fraud while supporting safety and environmental compliance in assigned stores. The role involves executing theft prevention strategies, building relationships with store management, and ensuring adherence to company policies regarding loss prevention.

Key responsibilities

  • Communicate with management on investigations and physical security
  • Drive a 'Shrink Elimination' culture in the store
  • Detain and interview individuals for shoplifting per company procedures
  • Support store safety programs and validate environmental compliance
  • Conduct physical security checks to deter theft and fraud
  • Write reports documenting incidents and communicate with law enforcement
  • Create awareness among associates regarding shrink issues
  • Utilize surveillance tools and audit security systems
  • Set clear expectations and objectives for the team
  • Maintain high responsiveness towards internal customers

Required skills

  • Experience in loss prevention or retail
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues creatively
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
  • Valid security guard or private investigator license required if applicable
