Overview

Care Options for Kids is looking for a skilled American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing during the school year. This role involves facilitating communication and ensuring students' participation in academic settings and social activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct interpreting services in classroom instruction, small group and one-on-one settings, and school activities
  • Interpret using American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities based on student needs
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, peers, and school staff
  • Support students in accessing classroom instruction and discussions
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings to support communication access

Required skills

  • High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Interpreting or related field preferred
  • National certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or minimum score of 3.5 on the Educationa
  • Passing score on the EIPA Written Test (EIPA:WT)
