Overview

The ASES Group Leader at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego will oversee virtual and in-classroom instruction, assisting and tutoring students in the after-school program. This role involves leading engaging, culturally rich academic and recreational activities for groups of youth, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide virtual and classroom instruction to students in the after-school program
  • Lead engaging academic and recreational activities for youth
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and behavior of program participants
  • Develop culturally relevant daily lesson plans and activities
  • Perform administrative tasks, including attendance tracking and correspondence
  • Implement discipline techniques and classroom management strategies
  • Coordinate program services and cooperative learning activities
  • Participate in safety drills and contribute to ongoing safety assessments

Required skills

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 48 units of college curriculum or completion of CAPE
  • One year experience working with school-aged youth preferred
  • Experience using communication tools like Zoom and Skype
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media navigation
  • Skills in instruction, direction, and guidance of youth
  • Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, and staff
  • CPR and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire
