Overview

As an Applied Researcher II at Capital One, you will play a pivotal role in developing trustworthy AI systems that transform customer interactions with banking. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to leverage advanced technologies and applied research methodologies to build AI-powered products that drive innovation in customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Leverage technologies such as Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, and Huggingface for data analysis.
  • Build AI foundation models through all phases from design to implementation.
  • Conduct high-impact applied research to enhance customer experiences with AI.
  • Translate complex research outcomes into actionable business goals.

Required skills

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields
  • 4 years of applied research experience or M.S. with 5 years in NLP research
  • Hands-on experience with AI foundation models using open-source tools
  • Deep understanding of AI methodologies and machine learning principles
  • Expertise in training large deep learning models and optimization techniques
  • Ability to pursue a research agenda autonomously
