Overview

As an Applied Researcher I at Capital One, you will engage in pioneering AI and machine learning projects that enhance customer experiences in banking. Your role will involve partnering with interdisciplinary teams to develop AI-powered products and leverage advanced technologies in AI foundations, LLM customization, and reinforcement learning.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Develop AI foundation models through all phases of their lifecycle.
  • Engage in applied research to implement the latest AI developments.
  • Translate complex AI work into actionable business goals.
  • Analyze data and contribute to production systems in collaboration with academia.

Required skills

  • PhD or M.S. in fields related to AI, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with AI foundation models and open-source tools.
  • Proficiency in technologies such as Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, and Huggingface.
  • Deep understanding of AI methodologies and machine learning principles.
  • Experience in building large deep learning models and delivery of code to existing products.
