Overview

As an Applied Researcher I at Capital One, you will play a crucial role in developing trustworthy AI systems that enhance customer experiences in banking. You will work in the AI Foundations team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to apply state-of-the-art AI technologies and methodologies to drive innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Develop AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
  • Conduct high-impact applied research to innovate customer experiences.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into business goals for stakeholders.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to apply in projects.

Required skills

  • Experience in Applied Research with a focus on AI and machine learning.
  • Hands-on experience with AI foundation models and open-source tools.
  • Proficiency in Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, and Lightning.
  • Strong understanding of AI methodologies, including deep learning and natural language processing.
  • Experience in developing large models for language, images, or graphs.
  • Familiarity with training optimization, self-supervised learning, and explainability.
  • Track record of delivering scalable models and solutions.
  • Publication record in relevant machine learning and AI conferences.
