Overview

The Applied Researcher I (AI Foundations) at Capital One will focus on developing trustworthy and reliable AI systems to enhance customer experiences in banking. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to leverage state-of-the-art AI technologies and contribute to significant applied research projects that redefine how customers interact with their finances.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products
  • Leverage technologies such as Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, and Huggingface to analyze large datasets
  • Build and develop AI foundation models, overseeing the entire process from design to implementation
  • Conduct impactful applied research to improve customer experiences with AI
  • Translate complex technical concepts into actionable business goals

Required skills

  • Experience with open-source languages and tools
  • Hands-on experience in developing AI foundation models
  • Understanding of AI methodologies and deep learning models
  • Ability to autonomously manage a research agenda
  • Experience in training optimization, self-supervised learning, and explainable AI
  • Knowledge of fine-tuning large language models and relevant transfer learning principles
