Overview

As an Applied Engineer at Steel Point Opportunities, you will be at the forefront of integrating AI tools into financial software, building AI-powered features for client platforms. The role requires a strong full-stack engineering background, with a focus on creating automated solutions that significantly enhance efficiency for hedge funds and asset managers.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop AI-powered features for client-facing platforms
  • Design and implement MCP-connected data sources and agentic pipelines
  • Build end-to-end applications for portfolio analytics and risk management
  • Maintain high-performance APIs using Python for client-specific data access
  • Create intuitive, responsive UIs in React for complex financial data
  • Develop and maintain reliable ETL pipelines for financial data
  • Implement financial analytics layers for performance and risk calculations
  • Deliver working software quickly and iterate based on user feedback
  • Deploy applications using Kubernetes in client environments

Required skills

  • 3-8 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer or applied AI engineer
  • Strong Python expertise, particularly with FastAPI, Flask, or Django
  • Experience using agentic AI tooling and building user-facing products 0-to-1
  • Understanding of agentic frameworks and processes
  • Ability to thrive in unstructured environments and solve loosely defined problems
  • Interest in AI's impact on software and understanding of institutional investors
