Overview

The Nixon Law Practice is seeking an Appearance Attorney to represent their firm at family law hearings and court proceedings across California. This role is suited for an attorney who enjoys courtroom advocacy and handles various family law matters while primarily working from the firm's office in Fresno. Frequent travel is required to attend hearings and trials throughout the state.

Key responsibilities

  • Appear in family law proceedings in courts throughout California as required
  • Attend in-person hearings when remote appearances are not possible
  • Present arguments and advocate for clients' interests
  • Review case files and prepare for court appearances
  • Communicate hearing outcomes promptly to the assigned attorney and legal staff
  • Prepare post-hearing reports and identify follow-up actions
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff for seamless case handling
  • Maintain professionalism and compliance with court rules

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing with the State Bar of California
  • Two years of California family law experience preferred
  • Strong courtroom advocacy and oral communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Clio
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
