Overview

Olymel is seeking multiple employees to join their pork production team at OlyM s.e.c. in Ange-Gardien, Quebec. The role involves animal care and ensuring compliance with industry standards, utilizing specialized farming practices to maintain animal welfare.

Key responsibilities

  • Check animals, barn, and production equipment daily to ensure smooth operation of the farm
  • Feed livestock and monitor health, detecting and treating illnesses as needed
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment and buildings and ensure cleanliness
  • Implement animal-related programs including biosafety and welfare standards
  • Prepare birthing rooms and assist sows during farrowing
  • Plan matings and perform artificial insemination using specialized tools
  • Ensure growth and development of animals in the fattening department
  • Collaborate with various departments for effective communication and coordination

Required skills

  • Experience or training in pork production or related field
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French
  • Comfortable with farm-related technology
  • Detail-oriented and responsible with a focus on quality
  • Team player with a passion for animals
  • Physical fitness and willingness to learn
