Job Description

Overview

Labcorp is seeking an Animal Technician to support research by providing daily care and monitoring of laboratory animals in Madison, WI. This role is essential in ensuring proper husbandry while maintaining a clean and compliant facility environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for all species housed within the animal facility, including feeding, watering, and health observation
  • Change cages and bedding, and clean and sanitize animal rooms, pens, and equipment
  • Operate automated cleaning equipment, such as cage washers and tunnel washers
  • Dispose of animal waste and soiled bedding according to sanitation and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all cleaning, sanitation, and husbandry activities
  • Observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report concerns promptly
  • Assist with facility support tasks including inventory, record keeping, and laundry duties

Required skills

  • 6 months or more of related animal care experience or relevant certifications
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Comfortable working in environments that follow strict sanitation and animal care protocols
