Job Description

Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Principal Level Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning program for data centers. This role will focus on mechanical systems and involve collaboration with various engineering and management teams, ensuring quality and effectiveness throughout the commissioning process.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for mechanical systems and commissioning program
  • Lead and support AWS pre-construction and construction management teams
  • Lead and support AWS product teams and Principal Engineering for new data center design
  • Review design specifications and testing requirements for adherence to commissioning standards
  • Drive alignment on key issues and construction practices in workshops
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for commissioning teams
  • Conduct quality assurance audits of commissioning processes
  • Lead investigations and root cause analysis for errors
  • Participate in technical interviews for commissioning team members

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in commissioning or startup of data centers
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and commissioning methodologies
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to commissioning
  • Project and program management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration abilities
