Overview

The Ambulatory Service Representative at CHRISTUS Health provides essential administrative support for patients in an ambulatory surgery center setting. This role involves coordinating appointments, managing patient communications, and ensuring financial and medical information is accurately processed.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and direct phone calls from patients and physician offices
  • Schedule patients for treatment by multiple providers and treatment areas
  • Prioritize appointments to optimize patient care and utilize resources efficiently
  • Handle urgent patient care calls and alert providers to emergent symptoms
  • Greet patients for scheduled and urgent care appointments
  • Confirm and verify patient demographic and insurance information
  • Collect co-payments from patients upon arrival as applicable
  • Obtain signatures for treatment authorization and insurance information
  • Collaborate with insurers for prior-authorizations for procedures and tests
  • Follow guidelines to ensure pre-authorization and physician referrals are obtained
  • Review and audit billing discrepancies and resolve errors
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and related information
