Overview

The After School Assistant Director at Sid Jacobson JCC plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the Afterschool program, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for children and families. This position involves staff supervision, program implementation, and effective communication with families while fostering a positive team culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Site Director in overseeing daily operations of the After School and enrichment program
  • Assist with supervision, coaching, and support of program staff and volunteers
  • Help implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment for participants
  • Maintain attendance records and compliance documentation
  • Communicate with families regarding program updates and participant needs
  • Manage daily program flow and supervise 50-80 children
  • Collaborate on program planning and continuous improvement
  • Monitor inventory and assist with supplies
  • Complete required annual trainings and compliance requirements

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience working with children ages 5-12
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, or related field preferred
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to build relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel and supervise children
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
