Job Description

Overview

The Affordable Housing Compliance Manager will oversee compliance for affordable housing properties in the Gaithersburg, MD area, ensuring they meet federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves working closely with property managers, tenants, and government agencies to monitor tenant eligibility, verify income documentation, and manage HAP vouchering processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage site-level compliance by reviewing applicant certifications and completing re-certification paperwork
  • Review household certifications for all affordable properties for compliance
  • Process and submit monthly HAP vouchers accurately and timely
  • Monitor and correct voucher discrepancies, subsidy reconciliations, and TRACS transmissions
  • Train personnel on preparing income certifications for Section 8 and Federally Assisted properties
  • Review and approve move-in certifications and quarterly re-certifications
  • Address compliance training needs for site staff
  • Generate year-end building status reports for tax credit properties

Required skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in compliance for affordable Section 8 and LIHTC properties
  • HCCP, SHCM, C3P, COS, CPO, or equivalent certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong knowledge of Section 8 regulations and IRS 8823 Guide
  • Experience with HAP voucher processing and TRACS transmissions
  • Experience with Yardi software
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
