Overview

Aerodyne Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment to support critical rotating assets and high-vacuum systems as part of their JETS team in Houston, Texas. The role encompasses leading reliability and lifecycle activities, troubleshooting mechanical failures, and collaborating with various teams to ensure operational readiness for NASA’s deep space exploration missions.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead reliability and lifecycle activities for rotating assets and high-vacuum systems
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical specifications, and procurement packages
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and performance issues in rotating systems
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Review and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and mechanical schematics
  • Oversee design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems
  • Provide training and technical guidance to maintenance personnel
  • Participate in hazard reviews and reliability audits
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to resolve technical discrepancies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, reliability engineering, or rotating equipment maintenance
  • Experience with centrifugal/positive displacement pumps, compressors, and industrial vacuum systems
  • Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs and mechanical schematics
  • Experience in performing Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components and lubrication systems
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to lead collaborative sessions
  • Familiarity with ASME and ANSI mechanical standards
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, AutoCAD, CREO)
