Overview

Ochsner Health System is looking for a dedicated Adult Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) to provide vital respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to both inpatient and outpatient populations. This role involves working with patients of all ages and contributes to the commitment of healing, serving, and leading in the healthcare field.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment and oxygen services to patients
  • Set-up, monitor, and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs
  • Deliver intermittent therapy and assist with changing artificial airways
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and document all clinical information
  • Adapt care practices to meet the needs of different patient populations
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and standards

Required skills

  • Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to educate others
  • Proficiency in computer skills and Windows-style applications
