Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking an Adult Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) to provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients of all ages. The role involves educating patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care treatment, including oxygen services and ventilation support
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas analysis and EKG monitoring
  • Educate patients and staff on respiratory procedures and treatment plans
  • Monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Document all clinical information regarding each patient

Required skills

  • Current license as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Computer skills for data entry and software proficiency
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
