Job Description: DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director, a CSO must be able to exercise mature and independent judgment in response to the responsibility of the Courts of Orange County, the Department, and the probationer; supervise a caseload of mixed cases (Felony and Misdemeanor); case supervision must be conducted in a manner consistent with standards promulgated by the Community Justice Assistance Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and as envisioned by the Director of the Department; conduct presentence investigations; maintain accurate case records and perform other job-related duties as directed. BENEFITS: Retirement; Health Insurance; Three weeks vacation in first year; 95.94 hours accrued sick leave per year; 13+ paid holidays per year; optional flex schedule REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board; and preference may be given to a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Corrections, Counseling, Human Services Development, Law, Law Enforcement, Political Science, Pre-Law, Public Administration, Rehabilitative Studies, Social Work, Psychology or Sociology. A copy of school transcript conferring degree must accompany application, however, a certified copy is required prior to employment. OTHER: Reliable transportation available for field work; valid Texas Driver's License; proof of liability insurance; available to attend out of town training; criminal history check will be a part of the final selection process. Experience as a State Certified Community Supervision Officer is preferred.
