Overview

Pacific Life is seeking an Actuary & Director - Enterprise Assumption Review to join the Enterprise Actuarial Governance Team in Newport Beach, CA. This role focuses on reviewing actuarial assumptions, collaborating with key stakeholders, and enhancing assumption governance, ultimately driving both the company and individual career growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as lead or supporting reviewer of enterprise biometric assumptions across multiple product lines
  • Identify inconsistencies for assumption developers and ensure holistic assumption development
  • Maintain comprehensive enterprise-wide guidance and champion best practices for assumption monitoring
  • Deliver and support comprehensive peer review reports to challenge data selection and methodologies
  • Engage in projects to streamline assumption governance and enhance process efficiency
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance assumption monitoring and development

Required skills

  • 7+ years of actuarial experience with FSA or equivalent designation
  • Expertise in assumption setting and experience study methodologies
  • Experience with predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to present complex information clearly to various audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, computer science, or related field
  • Experience with R and Python
  • Familiarity with Embedded Value and international reserving practices
  • Understanding of assumption governance principles
