Job Description

Overview

USAA is seeking a credentialed Actuary to join their Property Loss Reserving and Reserving Development team. This role involves utilizing advanced actuarial techniques and Claims Analytics to analyze loss trends and support critical business activities. The position offers remote flexibility for eligible candidates and requires an understanding of compliance and risk management in actuarial processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Apply advanced actuarial knowledge to complete broad and complex projects.
  • Evaluate and select methodology for pricing new discounts for rollout.
  • Develop alternative methodologies to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor model performance and translate business problems into technical requirements.
  • Run catastrophe models and communicate results.
  • Lead special actuarial projects and train new team members.
  • Identify compliance gaps and recommend solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Develop written communication and presentations conveying data-driven solutions.
  • Ensure risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled as per policies.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Actuarial/business/analytical fields.
  • 4 years of actuarial or analytical business experience.
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) Credential.
  • Advanced skills in actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and programming languages (Python, R, SQL, SAS).
  • Experience in communicating complex solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Experience performing Loss Reserve analysis and using Loss Reserving software.
