Job Description

Overview

USAA is seeking an Actuarial Analyst II to join their P&C Personal Lines team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This role involves applying actuarial methodologies to improve pricing accuracy, manage risks, and mentor colleagues while working in a flexible environment that supports military families.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently apply actuarial methodologies to complete structured projects.
  • Build tools to test and implement new methodologies for actuarial analysis.
  • Identify and improve existing processes using actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques.
  • Proactively resolve technical issues and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Create instructions and training materials for actuarial tools and processes.
  • Mentor new team members.
  • Communicate actionable insights to both actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified and controlled in line with compliance policies.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2 years of actuarial or analytical business experience.
  • 3 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams completed.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and SAS.
  • Familiarity with Excel and at least one modeling software package.
  • Experience with P&C Personal Lines pricing and industry pricing software like Earnix.
