Overview

USAA is seeking an Actuarial Analyst II for its Forecasting Analytics team in Colorado Springs. This role involves applying actuarial methodologies to enhance pricing accuracy and process improvement while mentoring colleagues and managing business risks in compliance with policies. The position offers a flexible work environment with potential remote options, especially for military spouses.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently apply actuarial methodologies to complete structured projects
  • Build tools to test and implement new methodologies for accurate actuarial analysis
  • Identify and improve existing processes using actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques
  • Resolve technical issues and assist others in troubleshooting
  • Create training materials for actuarial tools and processes
  • Mentor new team members
  • Provide actionable insights to solve business problems
  • Communicate insights and solutions to a broad audience
  • Ensure identification, measurement, monitoring, and control of business risks

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant experience
  • 2 years of actuarial or analytical business experience
  • 3 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams
  • Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools and data visualization
  • Experience with Python, R, SQL, SAS, and BI tools
  • Experience with basic actuarial pricing methodologies
  • Strong communication skills for actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders
  • Experience in P&C Personal Lines pricing
  • Familiarity with industry pricing software like Earnix
