Job Description

Overview

As an Actuarial Analyst I at USAA, you will apply complex technical methodologies in the fields of pricing, reserving, modeling, and claims analytics to support the military community. This role requires a near-credentialed analyst to work independently on unstructured projects while collaborating with stakeholders and communicating insights effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently apply actuarial methodologies to complete unstructured projects
  • Select and ensure quality of data for trend analysis and rate level indications
  • Utilize statistical techniques to enhance actuarial work product
  • Create and deliver training on actuarial tools and processes
  • Identify compliance gaps and recommend process improvements
  • Lead unit initiatives and participate as a technical subject matter expert
  • Communicate insights and solutions to executive leadership and other audiences
  • Ensure risks are monitored and controlled per compliance policies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience
  • 4 years of Actuarial or analytical business experience
  • Near completion of CAS exams for ACAS Credential
  • Competency in actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques
  • Intermediate knowledge of Python, R, SQL, SAS, and BI tools
  • Experience communicating complex analyses to diverse audiences
  • Understanding of industry trends and stakeholder needs
