Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist at A.O. Smith plays a crucial role in managing the accounts payable and receivable processes. This position entails preparing and processing invoices, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining vendor files to ensure timely payments and accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare bills, invoices, statements, and vouchers for payment
  • Research invoices, returns, and credits
  • Reconcile bills and checks, and follow up on discrepancies
  • Maintain vendor files and assist in collections
  • Separate invoices for productive parts by payee
  • Run Unvouched Receipts (UVR) report daily
  • Match vendor names and purchase order details with invoices
  • Vouch invoices into the accounts payable computer system
  • Monitor discount opportunities and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Submit sales tax exemption certificates to vendors

Required skills

  • Associates Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field
  • 3+ years related work experience in Accounting
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable and Deduction Management
  • Excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • SAP experience
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
