Overview

Red River Commodities is looking for a Part-Time Accounts Payable Assistant to join their finance team in Fargo, North Dakota. In this role, you will be responsible for managing accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors while supporting the company's financial operations in the specialty crops sector.

Key responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process a high volume of vendor invoices for payment.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting on departmental expenses.
  • Accurately enter all accounts payable data into the accounting system.
  • Serve as a point of contact for vendors, answering inquiries related to invoices and payments.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and tax laws.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Evaluate accounts payable processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work closely with internal departments to match purchase orders and invoices.

Required skills

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting
  • Experience with high-volume invoice processing
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Advanced Excel skills for data entry and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills for data analysis and issue resolution
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
