Overview

The Accounting Manager at Sampson-Bladen Oil Company will oversee daily operations and month-end reconciliations, ensuring financial reporting complies with GAAP. This role includes managing a team, driving process improvements, and serving as the primary contact for external auditors.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions and month-end reconciliations
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements and compliance with laws and regulations
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Serve as primary contact for external auditors regarding lease accounting and cash management
  • Mentor and develop the cash management team
  • Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting operations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Strong expertise in GAAP and technical accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
