Overview

The Accounting Manager at Sampson-Bladen Oil Company will oversee daily and month-end operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and managing financial reporting processes. This role includes mentoring a cash management team and driving process improvements within the department.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions and month-end reconciliations
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Mentor, manage, and develop the cash management team
  • Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting operations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification preferred
  • At least 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong expertise in technical accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
