Job Description

Overview

SBP is a national nonprofit organization focused on helping communities recover from disasters. The Accounting Intern role offers a hands-on opportunity to integrate into the finance department of SBP, providing essential support in various accounting functions while gaining valuable experience in the nonprofit sector.

Key responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of the finance team
  • Perform accounts payable functions including processing transactions and entering vendor invoices
  • Assist in job costing requirements on a weekly basis
  • Participate in month-end close and audits
  • Manage documentation and administration tasks
  • Assist with ad hoc projects assigned by the finance team

Required skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a capacity to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Interest in a career in accounting or finance
  • High school diploma or equivalent; enrolled in higher education program (preferably Accounting, Finance, or Business)
  • Ability to commit at least 16 hours per week until the end of the Fall 2026 Semester
