Job Description

Overview

Pilot Flying J is looking for an Accounting Associate in Knoxville, Tennessee to perform routine accounting activities, including the maintenance of the general ledger, preparing accounting statements, financial reports, and handling accounts payable or receivable functions for less complex accounts. The role involves ensuring compliance with rules and regulations while supporting the company's commitment to a people-first culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare, record, verify, analyze, and report accounts receivable transactions
  • Perform analyses and reconciliations to detect fraud, data issues, and adjustments
  • Ensure transaction entry verification procedures are followed
  • Investigate and resolve payment variances or shortfalls
  • Reconcile payment card tender's accounts
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth cash flow and resolve payment issues
  • Review and collect on direct bill or funded transactions
  • Respond to inquiries from external companies
  • Check the accuracy of figures and calculations related to business transactions
  • Model behaviors that support the company's common purpose
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required
  • Associate degree in accounting or finance preferred
  • Minimum three years' experience in accounting or related area preferred
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Familiarity with billing and accounting software preferred
  • Intermediate reconciling software skills preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with a high sense of urgency
