Also responsible for preparing and analyzing certain account reconciliations in connection with the monthly close process and completing other various projects as determined on an ad hoc basis. What you'll do Prepares and peer-reviews journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and complex monthly and ad-hoc reports and supporting schedulesPrepares, peer-reviews, and provides documents (e.g. reconciliations, supporting schedules, and process maps) by requested deadlines to the Company's external auditors and the SOX group to ensure timely completion of quarterly reviews, the annual financial statement audit and SOX compliance test workReviews process maps and perform internal controls to ensure SOX complianceAssists in providing guidance on accounting issues to business groups of the Company as neededAssists in providing new employees with appropriate training on business processes and system applications for assigned areas of responsibility.Assists in providing direction as needed to team membersRepresents the department in meetings and through written and verbal communication with internal and external customersPerforms a variety of other functions/ad-hoc projects as assigned to aid in the department's/company's achievement of goals and business objectives All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/training3 years of accounting experience in company corporate accounting departmentCertified Public AccountantPreferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job ExperienceMaster's degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance, MBA, or related disciplines or equivalent experiencesSkills, Licenses & CertificationsPossess fundamental accounting, internal controls and SOX knowledgeAbility to Self-motivated, detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.Ability to lead and participate in projectsAbility to establish metrics, coach and mentor junior employees and provide performance feedbackDemonstrated experience testing systems using a standardized methodology for documentationDemonstrated experience using innovative thinking ability with high degree of motivation and problem solving skillsAbility to be flexible/adaptable to constant change and scheduling needs to meet deadlinesAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to work on projects and prioritize and execute concurrent assignmentsAbility to meet deadlines with minimal supervisionKnowledge of SAP general ledger and Hyperion Financial Management reporting tool What you'll get Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
