Overview

FM, a leading mutual insurance company focused on property risk management, is seeking an Account Engineer (AE) specializing in Fire & Natural Hazards for their Chemical Operations in Norwood, Massachusetts. The AE will provide support to clients in the chemical industry, evaluating risks and creating tailored strategies to enhance business resilience against hazards.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate location data and identify hazards to deliver risk improvement solutions.
  • Utilize Operating Standards and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices.
  • Manage FM engineering resources to meet company and client needs.
  • Assess and evaluate global risk information for competitive advantage.
  • Maintain global engineering consistency on an account basis.
  • Obtain client understanding on key hazards and corporate impact of exposures.
  • Achieve risk improvement on a corporate basis and manage client engineering relationships.
  • Illustrate the value-added differential of FM engineering to clients.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in specialty industries such as chemical, nuclear, or mining
  • Experience in process safety or Process Safety Management
  • Ability to prepare engineering reports and loss expectancy analyses
  • Knowledge of Chemical Industry processes including fire and explosion risks
  • Proficient in computer skills and basic insurance concepts
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently
