Job Description

Overview

Zach Theater's Zach Academy is looking for a part-time Academic Advisor to facilitate on-site academic support for students in a pre-professional training program. The advisor will help students navigate their online learning, assist with administrative issues, and maintain communication with parents about academic progress. This role includes a flexible schedule with 6-8 weeks off during the summer.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor student progress within virtual school platforms
  • Act as a liaison between virtual school providers, students, and parents
  • Create and maintain a productive study environment
  • Map out students' academic schedules
  • Communicate weekly with parents about student progress
  • Attend and coordinate academic-related events
  • Provide classroom coverage as needed
  • Tutor 6-12th graders in core subjects as required

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree with a Teaching Certificate preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience with Middle School and/or High School students
  • Familiarity with online learning environments
  • Experience in tracking student academic progress
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills with parents, students, and staff
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Slack and Asana preferred
