Overview

Pelton Shepherd Industries is looking for a Lead Machine Operator with a mechanical focus for their 3rd shift in Streamwood, Illinois. This hands-on role involves maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting production machinery to ensure efficient and safe operations, while also providing technical support and training to other operators.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate, inspect, and maintain production machinery to ensure optimal performance
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective corrective actions
  • Perform preventive maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, and component replacement
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and repair machines efficiently
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for machine-related issues
  • Train and mentor Machine Operators and Assistant Operators
  • Monitor machine efficiency and product quality
  • Identify worn or damaged parts and manage inventory reporting
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production leadership to improve equipment reliability
  • Ensure SOPs, safety standards, and quality requirements are followed

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of hands-on machine operation or mechanical manufacturing experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of machine components and preventive maintenance practices
  • Ability to interpret mechanical problems
  • Experience training or supporting other operators
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
