Overview

The Technician at FedEx Freight in Sparks, Nevada is responsible for providing timely and cost-effective repair and maintenance for the vehicle fleet, including tractors, trailers, and forklifts. The role requires performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
  • Conduct basic diagnostics to identify issues and adjust equipment for safe operation
  • Document all maintenance performed and complete reports both in writing and electronically
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment and document inspections
  • Execute paint and body work on vehicles as required
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Assist other technicians with maintenance and repairs

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in vehicle maintenance or related certification
  • Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred
  • Possess necessary tools for assigned tasks
  • Valid driver's license may be required
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance programs and diagnostic systems
  • Knowledge of gas and diesel engines
  • Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices
  • Ability to lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds
  • Experience with paint and body work preferred
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
